A private equity firm, Quad-C Partners Management, Inc., Charlottesville, VA, has acquired MW Industries from Harbour Group Industries, St. Louis, MO. MW companies manufacture springs, fasteners and stamped products, and includes these companies: Matthew-Warren Inc. and Hyperco, both of Logansport, IN; Automatic Spring Coiling Chicago, IL; Century Spring Corp., of Los Angeles and Vernon, CA; Peck Spring Corp., Plainville, CT; Accurate Screw Machine Corp., Fairfield, NJ; and Rumco, Inc., Elk Grove Village, IL. MW reportedly is the third largest American-owned spring manufacturer.
Chicago Manufacturers Learn to Compete Globally

The International Trade Club of Chicago (ITCC) and the Tooling & Manufacturing Association (TMA) have combined to launch a five-part seminar series designed to help U.S. manufacturing and tooling companies compete in the global marketplace. The series, titled Discover the Keys to Competitive Manufacturing, runs October 7 and 21, November 4 and 18, and December 2, 2003. It will be held at the TMA conference center in Park Ridge, IL. SME to Hold Automation & Assembly Summit
