Alabama Processor Installing Huge Hardening Vessel

Advanced Heat Treat Corp., Waterloo, IA, is installing one of the world’s largest ion-nitriding vessels at its new service center in Cullman, AL, slated to open this spring. The vessel will harden production components and large tooling and stamping dies for the automotive and aerospace industries. Its work zone measures 110 in. wide by 32 in. high by 240 in. long, with a load capacity of 60,000 lb. Learn more at

Powder Coating Academy Coming to a City Near You

The online forum, Metal Finishing Magazine and powder supplier Tiger Drylac, Ontario, CA, have teamed to launch the Powder Coating Academy 2007, a four-city tour promoting powder-coating educational courses. The tour kicks off in Dallas, TX, April 3-4, then heads to Boston, MA, June 12-13. In the fall, the tour hits Charleston, SC, Sept. 24-25, and then wraps up in Los Angeles, CA, Nov. 7-8. Bauer Welding & Metal Fabrication, Inc., St. Paul, MN, has purchased a model LT712 LaseerTube cutting machine from Italian supplier BLM Adige (BLM Group USA Corp., Wixom, MI), a 2500-W unit capable of cutting round tubing to 6-in, OD and 4-in. square tubing. Bauer, which provides tube-bending, fabrication and welding services, operates draw-, press-, mandrel- and roll-bending equipment, and houses robotic welding and high-definition plasma-cutting cells.
