Following its acquisition, Alpha Steel, a distributor of hot-rolled and structural-steel products in the Midwest, will now operate under the name of its new parent company, Macsteel Service Centers USA. The Hammond, IN, operation also runs an inhouse processing center for hot-rolled steel products.

Ametek Acquires HCC Industries

Ametek, Inc., Paoli, PA, has acquired HCC Industries, Los Angeles, CA, a designer and manufacturer of hermetic connectors, terminals, headers and microelectric packages. Ametek manufactures electronic instruments and electric motors. HCC has annual sales of about $104 million and becomes a major part of Ametek’s Electromechanical Group.
Macsteel to Add Heattreat Capacity

Macsteel will be adding a fourth quench and temper line with induction heating, similar to three existing lines, at its heattreat operation in Huntington, IN. The new line, to be completed early in 2007, is part of $6.2 million plant expansion that will add 16,000 tons of bar and tube capacity.
