AISI Elects Nucor CEO as 2003 Chairman

The board of directors of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) has elected Daniel R. DiMicco as its 2003 chairman. DiMicco, vice chairman, president and CEO of Nucor Corp., will serve a one-year term.
Also, AISI elected the following to one-year terms as vice chairs: Peter D. Southwick, president and COO of Ispat Inland Inc.; and Guillermo F. Vogel, vice chairman of the board, Tubos de Acero de Mexico, S.A. de C.V.
As chairman, DiMicco succeeds John T. Mayberry, chairman and CEO of Dofasco, Inc., who will serve as a vice chair in 2003.

Single-Loop Slitting Line
Headed for Bronx Coil Processor

Braner USA, Inc., Schiller Park, IL, has received an order from Midland Steel Warehouse Corp., Bronx, NY, to design and manufacture a ¼- by 72-in. single-loop slitting line. The line will process 50,000-lb. coils at up to 1000 ft./min, and will feature a turret-head slitter with quick-change heads capable of slitting five cuts in ¼-in. stock, 10 cuts in 3/16-in. hot-rolled coil, and 20-plus cuts in 0.075-in. cold-rolled and galvanized stock. The line should install in Spring 2003.
TD Center Adds Sales Agencies

The ArvinMeritor TD Center, Columbus, IN, has added Steve Rainwater, owner of Process Innovations, to represent its wear-resistant vanadium-carbide coatings to manufacturers in Florida. It also added Advanced Technical Sales of Arizona, and its president Thad Skladnowski, to represent its products in southern California, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico.
