Samuel, Son & Co., Limited, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, has purchased EMG, The Engineered Metals Group of Esco Corp., Portland, OR. EMG, with facilities in Denver, CO, Los Angeles, CA, Hayward, CA and Portland, OR, is an independent distributor of commodity, processed and engineered stainless-steel products. The acquisition increases to 58 the number of U.S. locations of the Samuel group of companies, which now operates 107 locations throughout North America.
Trumpf’s Leibinger Wins German Technology Award

The Werner-von-Siemens-Ring Stiftung (Foundation) in Berlin, Germany, has awarded German entrepreneur Professor Berthold Leibinger Germany’s most important technology award. The Werner-von-Siemens Ring is awarded every three years to “pioneers in technology,” and Leibinger earned the award for his introduction (via Trumpf Inc.) of laser technology in materials processing at the end of the 1970s. Leibinger presides over Trumpf as chairman of its Supervisory Board.
