Akron Tool & Die Now Handles Longer Workpieces

Akron Tool & Die Co., Inc., Akron, OH, has expanded its capabilities to handle machining services on longer workpieces. Expanded workpiece service capabilities include grinding to 8 in. OD and 192 in. long, surface grinding to 25 by 120 in., turning to 8 in. OD and 192 in. long, and honing to 6 in. ID and 120 in. long.
“We have offered grinding, turning and honing services for more than 60 years, but our customers have indicated that there is great demand for these services on longer workpieces,” says Michael Magee, president of the contract machining company.

Balzers Opens Ninth U.S. Coating Center

Balzers, Inc., Amherst, NY, has opened its ninth coating center in the United States, in Indianapolis, IN. The new center will service the increasing demands of the gear-tooling industry and will act as a hub center for other tooling. It will incorporate two Balzers coating machines, which apply Balinit A (TiN) and Balinit B (TiCN) coatings. A third will be installed in February.
