Denso Hopes to Invest Big in Michigan

Denso International America Inc., Southfield, MI, announced plans to invest $750 million in the United States and create more than 1200 jobs, including more than 400 jobs in Michigan. The Tier 1 automotive supplier’s planned $150 million investment in Michigan depends on the approval of state and local tax incentives, according to Terry Helgesen, the firm’s senior vice president of industry relations. The local investment would result in a research and development expansion at its Southfield technical center, and expansion of its manufacturing plant in Battle Creek.

Resistance-Welding Equipment Techs Take to the Air

T. J. Snow Co., Chattanooga, TN, has added a second small airplane to its transportation fleet, to facilitate fast response time for in-plant service calls on resistance-welding equipment. The firm, a supplier of welding equipment and services to Tier 1 and 2 automotive-parts suppliers and other metal fabricators, has five pilots on staff. Its two planes are used to fly service technicians to customer sites throughout the eastern two-thirds of the United States. More at www.tjsnow.com/.

Hexagon Acquires U.S.-Based 3D Analysis-Software Company

Hexagon AB, a provider of design, measurement and visualization products, acquired New River Kinematics (NRK), Williamsburg, VA, an engineering company specializing in 3D analysis software for portable metrology applications.
