Esab Welding & Cutting Under New Ownership

Colfax Corp., Fulton, MD, has acquired Charter International plc, owner of Esab Welding & Cutting Products, as well as Howden, a manufacturer of air- and gas-handling equipment. “The acquisition is not expected to impact Esab customers or distributors,” says Mark Elender, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Esab North America. Colfax owns 10 brands in the pumping and fluid-handling market.
Cincinnati Inc. Appoints New Canadian Distributor

Elliott Matsuura Canada, Inc., Oakville, Ontario, is the new exclusive Canadian distributor for Cincinnati Inc. press brakes, shears and laser-cutting systems. The new agreement between the two companies expands the distribution rights for Elliott Matsuura to all of Canada; the machine-tool distributor previously represented Cincinnati in the six Eastern Canadian provinces. Wayne Trail Recognized for Job Creation Emanating from its Laser-Cutting Technology

Ohio senators Tom Niehaus and Keith Faber recently presented a 2011 Edison Technology Center Award for Excellence to Wayne Trail Technologies, Fort Loramie, OH, for outstanding performance in retaining and generating new jobs within the state of Ohio. The firm is credited, in a letter from the Ohio Senate, with creating 35 jobs in 2010. A company representative notes that its growth primarily is related to its work in developing laser technology that enables cutting of thin-coated foils at speeds to 10 m/sec. Learn more at
