Grant to Prepare Engineers to be Entrepreneurs

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has received a $75,000 grant from the Kern Family Foundation to fund the second part of a program aimed at providing engineers with entrepreneurial skills and experience. In the first phase of the program, WPI used a $50,000 Kern grant to create a new course titled Engineering Entrepreneurship and Innovation, as well as two workshops to teach instructors how to integrate the subject into their courses. Second-phase activities will aim to broaden the reach of entrepreneurship education at WPI. The Kern Family Foundation seeks to provide every engineering student with some level of entrepreneurship education, through its Kern Entrepreneurship Education Network of engineering schools; www.keennetwork.com.
