Strothmann Machines & Handling, with a U.S. presence in Marietta, GA, specializes in the automation of handling processes in and around press lines, especially for automotive companies. The most recent contract, the largest in the company’s history, has Volkswagen de México commissioning Strothmann to modernize a press line in the Volkswagen production plant in Puebla, Mexico.

Volkswagen has opted for electronic parts transfer by means of the established CompactTransfer system, which is ideally suited for small installation spaces. The systems partner will adapt the CompactTransfer to unique onsite requirements. Two dynamic linear-technology modules per press gap are mounted on existing press bolsters. Both sides are identical. Suspended between the actuated axes, a crossbar adapts the tooling to grip the blanks.
