Metalforming-equipment manufacturer Schuler Inc., Canton, MI, has opened a new vocational training center in Puebla, Mexico. The center, named Cedual (Centro de Especializacion Dual), already has begun to train 30 apprentices, and has the capacity to support 90 industrial and tool/mechanical apprentices. Following the German apprenticeship model, courses include theoretical and practical lessons taught by German instructors in an audio-visual lecture theater and in three classrooms. The center includes machines for hands-on training in drilling, turning, milling and grinding. After completing the 3-yr. course, students will receive a certificate from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, equivalent to the German qualification.
