AMT SWAT Team to Tackle Automation Cycle-Time Issues
February 1, 2008Comments
Applied Manufacturing Technologies, Inc., Orion, MI, a supplier of factory-automation design, engineering and process-consulting services, has formed a cross-discipline group called the Cycle Time SWAT Team. The team, created from the company’s simulation, programming, controls and mechanical groups, will help robot-system integrators and end users lower cycle times and increase production.
The SWAT approach consists of three phases: Evaluation, where the current installation is assessed, target areas for improvement identified, and a cycle-time-reduction budget established; Soft Implementation, where software and other improvements are made; and Hard Implementation, where tooling, fixturing, cell-layout, parts-feeding or dunnage changes are made.
