Fine-Tuned Power for Gas-Tungsten-Arc Welding

The Lincoln Electric Co., Cleveland, OH, has expanded its Invertec line of power supplies for gas-tungsten-arc (GTA) welding with the upgrade of the popular Invertec V205-T AC/DC machine, and the new V205-T DC.

The V205-T compact power source is intended for

critical AC or DC GTA welding. Updates include added circuitry in the stick-crisp mode for good 6010-electrode welding performance, improved arc starting and selectable start polarity, as well as adjustable strike current, widened start power range for minimizing tungsten erosion, and redesigned power electronics for improved reliability. The machine reportedly is the only one in this amperage range to offer selectable wave shapes to tailor the arc performance specific to the welding application. Operators can choose a square-wave shape for rapid travel speeds and good puddle control, a sine wave for a traditional softer sounding arc, or a triangular wave at low amperages to reduce heat input into the weld.

The new Invertec V205-T DC has the same added features as the Invertec V205-T AC/DC, minus ac-GTA welding. The machine supplies 200 A at 40-percent-duty cycle. It also auto-reconnects for single-phase 115/230-V 50/60-hz input, which allows the flexibility to weld in the shop or take it to the field where 230-V power may not be available.

Both machines weigh in at 37 lb., making them easy to carry around the shop.
