PMA on Capitol Hill--PMA Representatives Meet with Congress
On April 22, more than 40 members of PMA’s board of directors, government relations committee and educational foundation participated in nearly 100 meetings with members of Congress and their staffs. PMA members urged congressional leaders to address the issues important to domestic manufacturers, including trade-law enforcement, access to globally competitive raw materials, workforce training and healthcare reform.
PMA is working to make inroads with congressional leadership to advance a pro-manufacturing agenda. However, because 2008 is an election year, many lawmakers concede that not much will get done before November. Despite this fact, PMA will continue to urge Congress to move forward with a pro-manufacturing agenda. To reinforce this position, PMA’s Next Generation Leaders Division will visit Washington, D.C., on June 16-17.
