ESAB Welding & Cutting Products, Florence, SC, named George Learmonth vice president of strategic accounts, North America. Based in Hanover, PA, he’ll oversee sales activities to large end users and major distributors in the United States. Learmonth had previously served Esab as director of strategic accounts.

Faro Technologies, Inc., Lake Mary, FL, announced that its president and CEO, Jay Freeland, earned Ernst & Young’s 2008 Florida Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Technology category.

Andrew S. Harshaw, CEO of ArcelorMittal USA, has been appointed president of the Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST), Pittsburgh, PA, for 2008-2009. AIST

announced its new executive committee and board of directors during AISTech2008 last month.

Formtek Metal Forming Inc., Warrensville Heights, OH, promoted Rick Wilson to senior vice president of sales and marketing. He’ll direct all external sales and marketing efforts for North America of Formtek-brand metalforming and fabricating equipment.

Steve Barhorst has been named president and chief operating officer of robotics company Motoman Inc., Dayton, OH, succeeding Craig Jennings. Barhorst had been the firm’s senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Laser-system manufacturer Prima North America, Inc., Champlin, MN, a subsidiary of Prima Industrie S.p.A., Torino, Italy, appointed Paolo Busti European sales manager for Laserdyne Systems. Laserdyne multi-axis systems perform laser cutting, drilling and welding.
