Charter Automotive is the new name taken by Milwaukee Wire Products, Milwaukee, WI, to reflect its commitment to global automotive customers. The firm, a division of Charter Manufacturing Co., Mequon, WI, manufactures engine dipsticks, transaxle retaining rings, valve keys and valve-spring retainers.

To further its global reach, in February 2007 Charter Manufacturing acquired Valve Train Components Limited, Lichfield, England; and recently opened a manufacturing, warehouse and distribution facility in Wuhu, China.
