PMA, Women in Manufacturing and MetalForming Support Manufacturing Day

Friday, August 1, 2014

PMA, Women in Manufacturing (WiM) and MetalForming magazine have joined with other industry leaders to support Manufacturing Day, to raise awareness about the importance of manufacturing in the United States.

Manufacturing Day (MFG DAY), scheduled for October 3, 2014, addresses common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to show what manufacturing is—and what it is not. The goal is for manufacturers to connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.

“Our members look forward to sharing their passion for manufacturing with their communities, showing off their high-tech facilities to the next generation of Americans who will ensure that our sector continues to drive the economy and innovation in this country,” said PMA President Bill Gaskin. “This is a great opportunity to counteract the outdated stereotypes that often plague our industry by raising awareness about the rewarding careers that are available in manufacturing.”

Manufacturing Day is co-produced by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Manufacturing Institute (MI) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP). Guest producer Industrial Strength Marketing (ISM) provides the centralized support necessary to coordinate this nationwide array of simultaneous events. The Science Channel is the event’s media partner and American Made Movie is its movie partner.

PMA is a silver sponsor of Manufacturing Day and WiM is a bronze sponsor. MetalForming magazine is an official endorser and plans to promote and cover the event in the magazine and on its website (

PMA encourages members to take part in Manufacturing Day by hosting or attending an event in their community on October 3. Details are available at
