Esab Moving Some of its Production Out of South Carolina

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products will cease manufacture of gantry cutting machines, arc equipment and plasma power supplies at its North American headquarters in Florence, SC, and move the work to other factories around the world.
The Florence facility will remain the company’s “center of excellence” for plasma-arc cutting, including research and development of plasma processes, production of plasma systems and manufacture of torches and consumables. The Florence facility also will continue to manufacture gas apparatus and consumables; will serve as an aftermarket organization for Esab’s mechanized-cutting-machine technology; and will provide centralized services, including customer service, marketing, accounting, human resources and IT.
