Aida servo-drive press runs at Batesville Tool & Die
Batesville Tool & Die recently invested $10 million to acquire two new presses, including this Aida 800-ton two-point servo-drive press, and build a new addition to its 255,000-sq.-ft. plant. Ceiling height is 32 ft., to accommodate larger presses; an expandable under-floor scrap conveyor moves scrap outdoors. A Coe servo-feed line delivers material to the press from 72-in.-dia. coils; material capacity is 0.090 in. thick by 60 in. wide to 0.312 in. thick by 12 in. wide. Shown here is deep drawing 0.085-in. cold-rolled steel, with the press operating in the pendulum mode at 50 strokes/min., some 20 percent faster than when the job ran on a standard mechanical press.
