Comau Earns Volvo Quality Award
May 1, 2016Comments
Comau, Turin, Italy, a provider of automatic manufacturing systems and robotics as well as integration services, has been awarded the Volvo Quality Excellence Award by Volvo Car Corp. for an industrial project undertaken five years ago that is still in full development.
The project related to development of production facilities for the Volvo XC90, S90 and V90 vehicles, in which Comau used its geometric transportation system, the VersaPallet. The system is the centerpiece of a framing station where 10 robots simultaneously assembly the bodies of the three different models.
To successfully complete the project, Comau employed virtual engineering and virtual commissioning, which facilitates a significant reduction in design time as well as in project-deployment risks.
