Miller Electric Mfg. Co., Appleton, WI, introduced Fabtech 2010 attendees to its new Axcess E with Insight, an advanced gas-metal-arc-welding (GMAW) welding power supply that includes fully integrated data-monitoring capability. The
Welding power supply boasts integrated data-monitoring
Insight weld-process management system is embedded into the Axcess E welding platform to enhance productivity and quality by providing valuable information on a weld-by-weld basis to operators, supervisors, welding engineers, production managers, quality managers, maintenance professionals and manufacturing management. Use the system to monitor welds in accordance to preset parameter limits, to detect missed welds and under- or over-welding. Identify potential defects, and configure the software to notify the operator or management if a weld has not met expectations for amperage, voltage, wire-feed speed, and shielding-gas flow rate or duration.

Axcess E with Insight uses Ethernet technology and the factory network system to interface with each welding system and transfer data. Critical machine functions and settings can be monitored and adjusted by any manager with local or remote access to the factory network. And, welding professionals can monitor command values and actual welding results, and perform diagnostic functions.
