An upgraded mechanical vacuum lifter for handling ferrous and nonferrous sheet and plate and other heavy loads without requiring external power has been introduced by Anver Corp., Hudson, MA.

The self-powered lifter eliminates the need for electric or pneumatic power, making it immune to power outages. Featuring a mechanism that creates a powerful suction through the action of the lifter being lowered onto the load by a hoist, it can be operated virtually anywhere and incorporates a new 36-in.-long ergonomic safety handle.

Totally self-contained, the lifter is ideally suited for handling steel, stainless steel, aluminum and polished stone from the top without hooks, grabs or magnets. Available in capacities from 500 to 18,000 lb., it features all-welded steel construction and a wide selection of vacuum cups.
