Beckwood Press Co., St. Louis, MO, has designed and manufactured a new assembly press for large-stroke and daylight applications that is designed for a short-bed requirement. This press features a two-post frame with 10-in. bed height and is equipped with a bed shuttle with two spring-loaded roller tracks.

Beckwood recently delivered one of these presses to a motor manufacturer for assembly of electric motors. The press has a 25-ton capacity and is equipped with a 2-ton roller-track bed shuttle system, which is powered within the press using two 24-in.-stroke hydraulic cylinders.

The press features a 54 in. stroke, 87 in. of daylight, and a 34 by 34-in. bed. Multiple safety systems have been installed for four-sided access protection including a 50-in. light curtain and bolt-on and fixed expanded-metal guarding. A programmable Allen Bradley PLC control system and pedestal-mounted dual, ergonomic zero-force touch buttons were included.
