Stretcher Levelers Added to Steel-Processing Lines to Flatten Material, Tackle Springback

Ratner Steel, Roseville, MN, installed a pair of stretcher levelers, from Red Bud Industries, Red Bud, IL, onto existing steel-processing lines. The new equipment improves stock flattening and relieves trapped stresses to eliminate the possibility of springback. One stretcher leveler can process material to 1⁄4 in. thick and 100,000-psi yield strength; the second unit can handle material to ½ in. thick and 75,000-psi yield strength (3⁄8 in. thick and 100,000-psi yield).
