Full-service metal stamper PTM Corp., Fair Haven, MI, has acquired a rapid-prototype machine for design and development projects. Its new fused-deposition-modeling (FDM) unit will allow PTM engineers to explore ways to reduce production costs without compromising quality, say company officials.
FDM product models are fabricated from production-grade thermoplastic that can be drilled, tapped, sanded and painted without waiting for curing—ideal for use as prototype parts as well as for molds, patterns and even custom tools and fixtures.
